Vampire Academy Movie: UK Updates

Vampire Academy fans of the UK rejoice! This week we have news of the musical and poster variety! We do however need to boo and hiss at a certain piece of news that was also announced this week to screams of annoyance and terror from us loyal fans.

Zoey Deutch as Rose Hathaway & Lucy Fry as Vasilisa Dragomir

But first the good bits:

Soundtrack Album Art

The soundtrack listings were announced on Amazon.com on the 14th January and sees a largely unknown artist listing, the only two I recognised were Katy Perry and Goldfrapp. I did however recognise the song title Bela Lugosi’s Dead. Chvrches are doing a cover version of this classic song originally written and sung by British band Bauhaus. People who know the song will know the full version is over 9 minutes long so this version will be in the end credits. All the artists on the soundtrack have their own sound making this a great mix that should please everyone. As promised by the director Mark Waters there is an original song on the soundtrack. This comes from Jaymes Bullet and is called In Your Grave.

The lovely people over at Fangirling Central have done all the hardwork and put together all the songs in one place. It’s an excellent site for all your VA and Fangirling needs.

Next on the UK agenda:

UK Promo Poster

The snazzy looking UK version of the poster graced the internet on Wednesday. The poster has met mixed reviews over social networking sites and by looking at it I think it’s easy to see why. Overall the poster is fantastic as far as movie posters go. It’s not too busy and tells us what we need to know including that “They suck at school” tagline. What’s grated on the nerves of many loyal and longtime fans is the use of the colour pink across the lockers. Pink isnt a major colour throughout the book. Why not use red to connote blood? There’s a fair bit of blood in the book. Something else pointed out was the lack of Richelle Mead’s name on the poster. The Mean Girls director is mentioned but no author name. I was quite concerned when it was announced they’d be wearing school uniforms but they’re growing on me now. You have to admit the posters will stand out at the cinema!

And now brace yourself for the bad news. In fact you’ve probably already heard but in case you haven’t here it goes. The release date for Vampire Academy Blood Sisters in the UK has been pushed back… BY 2 MONTHS.

My tantrum when VA release was pushed back

The US get it on 14th February making VA the perfect Valentine’s Day movie. We were set to get it on the 19th February, the perfect birthday present for my sister. With the release of the poster came the news that the UK distributor (Entertainment One/ EOne) wouldn’t be releasing the film until 23rd April. Making us, according to IMDB, one of the last countries to release it.

Movie Cover Book

This has majorly upset us UK fans. It’s like a The Book Thief debacle all over again. There’ll be spoilers from our fellow Americans taunting us all over the internet. Tumblr will try to break our spirits but we’ll pull through.

Here’s hoping that the distributor sees the error in there ways and releases it sooner and makes us fans much happier to see our favourite book on the big screen. At least it doesn’t make our excitement any less.

The soundtrack is set to be released on 11th February in the US. No news on pre-orders for the UK yet I’m afraid.

Late Night Ramblings of a Girl Questioning Everything

So I’m not exactly questioning everything. I still have the same breakfast cereals when I wake up (if we have any left) and I still know that I can’t eat tumblr_lnb2iqy5qd1qi1i50too much pizza or cake… What a shame. I am however questioning things like am I too comfortable in my job. Do I really want to leave even though I know I need more hours? Would it be more beneficial to stay in bed all day snuggled up watching re-runs of Blue Bloods and Murder, She Wrote? These may seem like trivial questions but for someone like me they feel like they could change the outcome of my life.

REIGNThis post will probably be filled with questions that I don’t answer but it’ll give you an insight into my hectic life over the past week. Many of you won’t see the point to this post. One question that really upset me because there is no answer yet will the TV Series Reign be renewed? Trivial? Yes but I like the series and I’ll be upset if it’s cancelled. I think when you suffer from depression little things like this can make a difference. I’m not saying I’ll get depressed if they cancel the series but it makes you happy when they announce there’ll be more. It gives you something good to look forward to.

A good example is I had a job interview on Monday. I was a bit unsure on whether to go because I was questioning if I actually wanted the job. I know I need more hours and a job I can see myself in in 10 years time, Itumblr_mz3hghIQ331s7fd63o1_400 want some stability. If I get the job it means moving away and deep down this is what I want; the chance to start a new and make a place my own is very daunting but exciting for me. So why did I question going for the job? Well I’m comfortable at the store I work at. I enjoy my job and have some brilliant friends there. Okay I can make friends in a new job but I have trust issues which makes it hard for me to settle down and make friends. The friends I have are ones I trust a lot and will possibly be life long friends which I’m very grateful for. At the interview I did actually talk a lot to others which was surprising but really nice.

I won’t find out if I’ve got the job until next week or the week after. It’s a bit nerve racking but if I go on like normal it’ll all be fine. If I get the job I’ll be extremely happy if not I’ll probably stay in bed all week and act like no one wants me. It’s how life goes I’m afraid.

How my life feels when things go wrong.

Writing this has made me realise that everyone questions actions and decisions within their life some obviously a bit more than others. It’s making the best decision for yourself that is what matters. If I get offered this job away and I take it then I’m making the decision to leave my home life, family, friends and everything i’ve basically ever known to set up on my own. Scary right? But at the moment it will be the best decision for me and I’ll go for it even though I’m scared.

Remember questioning things means you care and are thinking ahead and that’s good!

Doctor Who, Christmas episode review.

Ok, this is a bit late. This episode was aired in 2013 and we are now in 2014, truthfully I’ve been in Pantoland, since the 20th of December on stage.

DWC1

Now, this episode can be awarded some sort of trophy for truly screwing up the Doctor Who counting system.

Those who know, since 1963 to 24th of December 2013 we knew Time Lord- Doctor Who regeneration rule being there are 12 regenerations, and there will be 13 Doctors. And the Doctor and their actors are as follows
1st Doctor- William Hartnell
2nd- Patrick Troughton
3rd- Jon Pertwee
4th- Tom Baker
5th- Peter Davison
6th- Colin Baker
7th- Sylvester McCoy
8th- Paul McGann
9th- Christopher Eccleston
10th- David Tennant
11th- Matt Smith
12th Peter Capaldi.

After the 50th anniversary episode, there was the question, with no official answer at the time if John Hurt, who was introduced as, “The War Doctor,” Should actually be the 9th Doctor, meaning the current Doctor- Peter Capaldi would be the last. Although, with that episode bringing Gallifrey back, there was the option that the Time Lords would grant the Doctor more regenerations. One snag is that The Doctor doesn’t know where his home planet is, basically depending on how difficult the writers make it, finding Gallifrey could be really easy or it could be like getting a Where’s Wally book, only to make things extremely difficult someone has torn the pages up and hidden the small picture of Wally in some giant mansion sort of house with a garden with no clue to where the picture is.

Back to the Christmas episode, the line up was changed even more. Back when David Tennant was the Doctor , viewers did see regeneration energy- he was shot by a Dalek

Zim shaking headOnly after healing himself, he poured that energy into his hand that cut off, (Not going to go into that, Whovians you should know what I’m talking about, those who don’t you need to go watch the Christmas Special at the start of series 2). I don’t know anyone who actually counted that as a regeneration, but 25th December 2013 it actually got announced that it was a regeneration and the Doctor at the time had, “Vanity,” Issues.

Basically the line up now looks like

8th- Paul McGann
9th- John Hurt
10th- Christopher Eccleston
11th- David Tennant
12th- David Tennant
13th- Matt Smith
14th- Peter Capaldi

spock

Now, I’m going to try and not go into a written rant about this. The more annoying thing about this is- despite the obvious there shouldn’t be more than 13 Doctors or they should have made a bigger deal with the Time Lords giving him another regeneration rather than just some gold light coming out of the crack in the sky, the same crack we thought had been resolved in early Matt Smith days! Although it was written in the script, I’m taking that from the fact it came from the Actors mouths in the episode, which confirmed that the Doctor Who team were screwing everything up or someone along the lines for got how to count, internet sources such as the BBC and Wikipedia (ok I know that one isn’t a reliable one but come on, everyone goes to it), still count Capaldi as the 12th Doctor.

The Christmas Episode 2013, The Time of the Doctor, saw us say a tearful farewell to Matt

Smith as the 11th/13th Doctor, since the excitement of the 50th anniversary was over the number one question at the back of most Whovian’s minds- although most would not want to think of it- was, how would he be killed and would his goodbye create as much flooding as David Tennant’s Farewell as he with teary eyes, left us with the heart scarring words, “I Don’t want to Go.”

DWC7

Like the finale of 2 previous seasons (5 &6) We see for the 3rd time and I get an itching feeling Moffat mightlike writing scenes that involve all of the Doctors enemies in one place, ok it is effective considering we knew the Doctor would be killed in this episode it didn’t give any answers to how. There was a giggle worthy moment in this episode when it occurred to me, Matt Smith’s Doctor could be the first one to die naked- Spoilers 😉

In this Episode, we finally get to know how the Silence was formed and why it is known as a, “Religion.” It was created by the church and the Mother Superior Tasha Lem to stop the Doctor from speaking his name and letting the Time Lords back into that universe. Confusion was also stopped, these events happened after River Song but thankfully one question whichis answered is how the Silence got brought back in time. Apparently, a division of the Church broke off and went back in time to stop the Doctor from ever getting to Trenzalore.

Of course, the Doctor didn’t really die as much as he thought he would, counting up that he was the 13th Doctor he began to slowly die (not mentioning how) Spoilers ;). The Doctor is allowed another regeneration from the Time Lords, using his regeneration energy he is able to destroy the Daleks and defend Trenzalore. Yay! This actually isn’t as good as it seems if you remember the plot line for series 7, if you can recall that series is based around the Doctor dying on Trenzalore, it’s the reason Clara gets splintered into

DW8 Time and the Doctor goes to find her. If the Doctor doesn’t die on Trenzalore (it cannot be argued that he could still die there as Clara has no idea who the Capaldi regeneration is and she has seen every one), his grave isn’t on Trenzalore therefore, the events of that time with the Great Intelligence (End of series 7) doesn’t happen, leaving giant plot holes, and making series 7 irrelevant.

.The Goodbye Matt Smith gives is a tearful one. Where as David Tennant made us all fall in tears with words, Matt Smith gave us tears with actions,

Dalek emotional we are taken for a trip down memory lane with the placement on the set of Fish Fingers and Custard, Mini Amy Pond and the appearance of grown up Amy (First time I saw this episode I knew straight away her ginger hair was a wig, after that though the emotional turmoil makes it less relevant) calling him by her childhood name for him “Raggedy Man.”and the symbolic meaning of him taking off the, “Cool,” Bow tie was like him stripping off his identity.

“I will always remember when the Doctor was me.” The Line that sent shivers down my back.

Dalek

This episode also, brings the quickest regeneration in the history of Who, but Capaldi and his new Kidneys and his Scottish accent make a brief appearance and we have to wait for series 8 now, which is set to be a good one as the 14th Doctor announces he doesn’t know how to fly the TARDIS.

DWC6

Unanswered questions in this episode-

How did the telephone get disconnected from the console unit? (Ok I think that one could go on without being answered but really I want to know, I hate to think it just, “Happened,” For that episode for laughs.”

DW3

Where Can I get a Friendly Cyberman head? (Ok that’s probably more of an outside the episode, aimed at merchandising thing)

Will there be doing a Cooking with TARDIS cookbook? (Again merchandise)

Why do you have to go to church naked? (I want an actual reason for this. It can’t just be a, “Respect,” Reason).

In this episode, something is sort of spoiled. The Silence Monsters, we all got taught to fear- when we could DWC2see and remember them anyway, turned out to be priests…  Which begs the question is this a different branch of the Silence family? One side are priests that ask for confessions the other helps raise psychopaths? If that is true, Moffat needs to start writing some sort of Eastenders Soap with the Silence in the middle… or maybe he already has, no one can remember it.

The Mother Superior says, “You’re not taking any technology down there,” She means the TARDIS key, but nothing is asked of the Doctor Sonic Screwdriver. (I’m guessing he might still have had it on him as we don’t see him pick it up in the scenes in the TARDIS). Where is the Sonic Screwdriver? Or Why didn’t she ask for it?

Is some certain facts with what happened on the Day, The Master, The Doctor and the Power Mad Time Lords met gone from the Doctor’s memory? The Doctor said, “They will come in peace.” If you remember that episode properly do you really want to bet 100% on it?

How does a Wooden Cyberman work? Come on the thing shoots fire! (I don’t mean that as a question, I know the world of Doctor Who can defy the rules of physics)

How did Clara survive going though Time Vortex and Space without a shell? There is an argument if it will kill you or not, when Jack Harkness clung onto the TARDIS last time he died, although because he can’t really die, he came back. Clara was stuck in the Time Vortex for 300 years.

Does the Doctor get another set of regenerations (Meaning 12 more) Or is this just a one time, one generation   deal?
